City of Light and Sound
Oil on Canvas | 10 × 20 in
Where the energy of the city meets the stillness of the water.
City of Light and Sound captures a city at the edge of evening, reflected across calm water beneath a vivid summer sunset. The skyline is bold and almost imposing, while the water below softens its presence, creating a quiet moment within an environment normally defined by movement, noise, and constant activity. Vincent intentionally plays with this contradiction—the city is loud, yet from this distance, everything feels still.
The vibrant palette draws from Vincent’s childhood memories of visiting New York during the summer: brilliant sunsets, humid air, and skyscrapers that seemed to blur and melt into the horizon. There is something nostalgic in that hazy atmosphere—the feeling of being hot and sweaty from the summer sun, waiting for the evening to finally cool, and watching the city transform as the sun goes down. Through its contrast of nature and architecture, movement and stillness, City of Light and Sound becomes less a portrait of a particular skyline and more a memory of what a city feels like when you stop long enough to simply watch it.
